Scammers Pretending To Be Law Enforcement

Date Posted: 11/08/2024
Category: General

Just a reminder, law enforcement agencies and their employees do no call asking people to send money for fees or fines. There is a scam going around in which the caller states that he or she is a U.S. Marshall and calling on behalf of the Cross County Sheriff's Office. They state that the individual has missed jury duty and will be arrested if they do not pay the fine over the phone. Please see the attached memo from Attorney General Tim Griffin that was initially published in July for more information on scam callers.
