The Cross County Sheriff's Office Auxiliary program operates under the direction of a captain. The primary purpose of this program is to give people who like law enforcement a chance to put skills to work while they maintain their full-time jobs. Part time deputies supplement patrol for full-time deputies, transport prisoners, take reports, make arrests, serve warrants and provide security for public events. The full-time deputy on duty supervises the part-time Deputies. Part time deputies must be 21 years old and complete a physical and psychological exam prior to their appointment. They must complete a part-time II course with a minimum of 160 hours of training, which includes classroom, practical exercises, aerosol defensive spray and weapons training. The Cross County Sheriff's Part-Time Deputies are a vital part of the Sheriff's Office and we are proud of the hard work and dedication these officers provide every day.
