Threats to Cross County Elementary School Causing Lockdown

The Cross County Sheriff's Office received a call at approximately 9:00 a.m. from the Cross County Elementary School stating threats had been made to an employee of the school.

hendrix.jpg The suspect Scott Hendrix, made threats of bodily harm to a teacher and the school was put on lockdown for the safety of the school.

Immediately the deputies from the Cross County Sheriff's Office, Poinsett County Sheriff's Office and other agencies started their search for Mr. Scott Hendrix.  Poinsett County Sheriff's Office apprehended Mr. Hendrix and detained him at the county jail until Cross County Sheriff's Office Deputy Barrett Hunter arrived.  Deputy Hunter arrived and transported Mr. Hendrix to the Cross County Jail and charged him with Terroristic Threatening, a class A Felony 5-54-203.

At no time was the Cross County Elementary School in danger. The School used proper protocol in shutting the School down.

The Cross County Elementary School should be commended for the way they handled the situation.
