Cross County Sheriff's Office

Cross County in eastern Arkansas has not only rich, flat delta farmland, but also rolling hills. The population is about 20,000. Wynne is the county seat. Rice production leads the agricultural sector of the economy while soybeans and cotton are also main crops. Peaches and fruit crops predominate in the Crowley's Ridge area. Tourism is on the rise in Cross County, with Village Creek State Park drawing visitors to two fishing lakes, hiking trails, campsites, and recreational areas. Wittsburg Natural Area has a rare natural distribution of tulip trees and pennywort, plus beech and sugar maple trees. At the unique courthouse courtroom, citizen jurors face the judge and witness, not spectators.
