Cross County Sheriff's Office will be closed Wednesday, July 21, 2010 from 9:00 a.m.  to 1:00 p.m. to pay our respect to Gerald Edmon McElroy.

Mr. Gerald Edmon McElroy, 86 of Wynne passed away Sunday, July 18, 2010 at Crestpark Nursing Home in Wynne. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard McElroy, Sr. and Glydis Willis McElroy; his wife in 1979, Barbara Jean McElroy; brothers, Willard and Earnest McElroy, Ralph Cox; and sisters, Wilma and Pauline. Mr. McElroy was born in Wynne on April 24, 1924. He was a retired Service Manager having worked for Murray Chevrolet for 42 years. Gerald was a member of the East Arkansas Peace Officers for over 30 years, Secretary and Treasurer of East Arkansas Peace Officers, Alderman for the City of Wynne and a former Fire Chief for the City of Wynne. He is survived by his sons, Roger McElroy of Wynne; Wayne McElroy of Fayetteville, North Carolina; brother, Jamie McElroy of Crossett ; sister, Willene Loverien of Vanndale; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Kernodle Funeral Home in Wynne. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 20, 2010 6 to 8 at Kernodle Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
