Local Scam Becoming More Persistent and Aggresive

03/25/2014

The Cross County Sheriff's Office has received numerous complaints of a scam becoming more persistent and aggressive.

The people are calling from different phone numbers telling the individuals that they have won up to $ 500,00.00, new car and other gift items.  All they have to do is go to Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Rite-Aid or Post Office and send them a $255.00 processing fee.

They are also asking if you have a checking, savings account or credit cards.  Do Not give any personal information over the phone.

They do not stop with just one call. There are repeated calls trying to get them to meet different places and send money.

This is definitely a scam and just trying to get individuals to send money or gain access to their accounts.
